Deserts (more), hoodoos, canyons, sagebrushed or covered by parched golden grasses, typify the southwestern areas of the region. Kamloops boasts grasslands (more), rolling hills, forested mountains and rivers as well as hoodoos and box canyons, and hundreds of ranches. The northern areas boast snow-capped mountains, pristine alpine lakes, vast forests and an abundance of snow in winter. Small towns, incorporated and unincorporated, are distict and peppered throughout the region.
