The desert-like 'western' landscapes are spectacular and readily accessible. It is only after travelling that you realize that the Thompson-Nicola region offers not only the desert 'western cowboy' landscape but it can mimic everything from Uzbekistan to Alberta.
The support and services of Kamloops and the many flights in and out make Kamloops the ideal base for a project. Combine the fantastic landscapes, structures and people with a dynamic Film Commission and the region is poised to reap the benefits. The more people learn about the Thompson-Nicola region the more popular it will become as a film destination.

"When I am searching for dense forest-looks in mountains or desert-looks or for rolling grasslands, I always look to the Thompson-Nicola region for locations. I can find all those looks and more close to the City of Kamloops. I have worked on many productions, all written for places where the Thompson-Nicola landscapes match - southwestern USA, Wyoming, Afghanistan, India and others.
Filming logistics are smooth and everything is accessible. There is little red tape, rates are reasonable and production is wanted. Overall, it's easy and fun shooting here."
